A simple easy snack made from chana dal and few spices makes this fried item a hit for morning breakfast or evening snack. A very popular snack of Karnataka is all here on my blog for you guys . Do try out this simple recipe and let me know how u like it


1. Chana dal 2 cups
2. Green chillies 2
3. Asofoetida 1tsp
4. Red chilly powder 1/2tsp
5. Chopped coriander leaves 1/2cup
6. Ginger grated 1 inch
7. Onions 1 large finely chopped
8. Oil for frying
9. Salt to taste


1. Wash and soak chana overnight
2. In a mixer blend chana dal without water if needed add 1 tbsp.  Keep it coarse and let few pieces of chana dal be as it is
3. Take it out in a bowl and add rest of the ingredients .
4. Mix well
5. Take a frying pan heat oil
6. Wet your hands with little water take a spoonful of the batter press it with palm and fry on medium heat it crisp and brown .
7. Serve hot with green chutney or ketchup
